A trend rarely stays confined to the platform where it started. Once a format proves itself, screenshots, downloads, and reposts carry it across to other apps, often stripped of its original context and rebuilt to suit a new audience's habits, expectations, and pacing along the entire way it travels.
Migration usually changes a trend along the way. A joke built around one platform's specific tools might lose its original mechanism entirely when it arrives somewhere else, surviving only as a phrase or a pose once the technical scaffolding no longer applies to the new environment it has landed inside of.
Watching how a trend adapts during migration reveals a lot about what actually made it work.
