Saturation, Fatigue, and Why Trends Wear Out

Every trend has a point where audiences simply stop responding, not because the format got worse, but because they have seen enough versions of it to know exactly what to expect from the next one. That predictability drains the spark that made the format interesting in the first place, well before anyone notices it happening.

Saturation happens faster on platforms with dense, fast moving feeds, where a viewer might encounter a dozen versions of the same trend in a single sitting without much of a break between them. That density accelerates fatigue considerably compared to slower environments where the same repetition is spaced much further apart over time.

Trends that survive saturation usually do so by mutating rather than simply repeating the same structure. Finding a genuinely new angle rather than merely supplying another instance of the same underlying format keeps a trend alive. Without that mutation, even a beloved format eventually runs its course and quietly fades away.
