Influencer fatigue describes a gradual sense of exhaustion that can build from following too many curated personal narratives at once, each one demanding a small amount of parasocial investment that, added together, can become genuinely draining over time. Each account demands only a small amount of attention alone, yet the total adds up quickly across dozens.

This fatigue often shows up subtly at first, a vague sense of disinterest or irritation toward content that once felt engaging, rather than any single dramatic moment marking a clear turning point in how that content gets experienced. That quiet irritation is easy to dismiss rather than trace back to its actual, cumulative source.

Recognising this fatigue as a normal, common response, rather than a personal failing, makes it easier to adjust deliberately, whether by reducing how many accounts get regularly followed or simply taking a break from that particular kind of content for a while. Naming the fatigue directly tends to make it far easier to actually address than simply pushing through it.
