Building a Habit of Verifying Before Resharing
Launch library · evergreen read

Verifying a claim before resharing it does not need to be a lengthy process, often a quick check for other independent sources reporting something similar is enough to catch a meaningful share of claims that would not otherwise hold up under closer scrutiny. Even a single extra search is often enough to catch a claim that would not otherwise hold up.
This habit matters most for content that arrives already carrying a strong emotional charge, since that charge is exactly what makes a claim feel urgent enough to share immediately, well before there has been any real opportunity to verify it properly. Slowing down for just a moment rarely costs much, even when a claim feels genuinely urgent.
Treating verification as a normal, expected step before sharing, rather than an optional extra reserved for especially suspicious content, gradually builds a more careful, more reliable pattern of sharing over time. Over time that small discipline builds a noticeably more careful, more trustworthy pattern of sharing.
